FAQ

1.    How do I view the zoetrope slipmat?

In order to view the Zoetrope in action you should:

1. Place the Zoetrope slipmat onto the turntable platter.

2. Set the turntable speed to 33.

3. Dim the room lighting to create ­ darker environment.

4. Position yourself to easily view the Zoetrope as it spins.

5. Using ­ strobe light, set the light to 11 Hz to enhance the illusion of motion. You can download  free strobe light app from the app stores we have used:

6. Start the turntable spinning and watch the zoetrope animation come to life.

Alternatively, you can ‑lm this live, using ­ camer­ with ­ shutter speed of 11 FPS. Just pop the slipmat on the turntable and start at 33 RPM.  Then you can use an app to view this.

We have used the StroboScopeApp from the Apple store.

 

2.  How do I set up the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

If you're using your Stir It Up Lux turntable for the first time, follow the steps below for quick and easy set-up, or watch this video

a.    Attach the drive belt

Note: The drive belt comes pre-installed. However, if when you open the turntable there is no visible belt around the sub-platter and motor, please refit the belt following the steps below.

1.      Put the belt on the motor (this is the gold spindle), then keep the belt tight stretch it around the sub-platter. Once in place, make sure the belt is flat and not twisted.

2.    Now place the glass platter on the black sub-platter by aligning the center holes.

3.    Now place the slip met on the glass platter, again aligning the center holes. The platter should be attached to the base.

b.    Balance the tonearm

Option 1 (Without Stylus Pressure Gauge)

1.      Push the Balance Weight on the tone arm until you feel a click.

2.    Remove the stylus needle cover before attempting to balance the tonearm.

3.    Unclip the tonearm from its rest and make sure it is floating freely.

4.    Rotate the Balance Weight back and forth until the tone arm is parallel with the platter

5.    Now place the tonearm back into its rest and clip it in so it is secure.

6.    Now add the correct tracking force for the stylus. You can do this by rotating the whole balance weight counterclockwise until the correct weight is added. The correct tracking force for this stylus is 1.5g - 2.5g (2g is standard).

7.    Note: Once finished, if you’re not using the turntable to play a record, put the stylus needle cover back on to protect the stylus when not in use.

Option 2

1.      Push the Balance Weight on the tone arm until you feel a click.

2.    Remove the stylus needle cover before attempting to balance the tonearm.

3.    Unclip the tonearm and from its resting position make sure it is floating freely.

4.    Place the stylus onto the 2-gram mark (recommended Tracking Force for our stylus).

5.    Rotate the balance weight back and forth until the pressure gauge is level. Ensure that the needle stays on the 2g mark.

 

3.  How do I play a record?

a.    Make sure the Stir It Up Lux is connected to the power adapter and a wall outlet, and the outlet is switched on.

b.    Put a vinyl on the turntable.

c.    Make sure the stylus needle cover is removed.

d.    Turn the RPM dial to the correct speed for the record. E.g., 45/33

e.    If you want to play via Bluetooth -please see the “Bluetooth Pairing” section and then come back to this step once connected to an output device.

f.      If you want to play via Line-Out or Headphone out - please check their section on how to connect the output device then come back here.

g.    Lift the tonearm via the lift lever and move the tonearm head to the edge of the record

h.    Lower the tonearm by lowering the tone arm lift lever.

Note: the turntable platter will auto-start spinning once the tonearm is above the platter.

i.      Once the record is finished, the turntable platter will auto-stop. Lift the tonearm and place it on the tonearm rest. To listen to the B side of your record, flip the record and repeat the above from step 6.

                                          i.    NOTE: Once finished listening to a record, make sure the stylus needle cover is re-attached to protect the stylus.

                                        ii.    Do not try to adjust the balance weight or anti-skate while playing a record, this could break the stylus needle and scratch the record.

                                      iii.    Do not try to turn the turntable platter manually. Moving or jarring the turntable without securing the tonearm could result in damage to the tonearm.

                                      iv.    Re-secured the tone arm before transportation to protect the needle.

                                        v.    Remove the balance weight before transportation to prevent damage or breakage to the unit.

4.  How do I pair the Stir It Up Lux turntable with a Bluetooth device?

a.    Power on the external Bluetooth® device first before turning on the BT function on the Turntable.

b.    Press the BT button on the turntable (MFB) to enable the unit to search the Bluetooth® device till BT indicator light becomes solid Blue. This will indicate that your devices are paired.

                                          i.    NOTE: If the Turntable does not pair with your Bluetooth® device within 30 seconds, press the Bluetooth® search button again on the turntable and it should pair.

5.  What is anti-skating?

a.    Anti-skate applies a small outward force to the tonearm. This is to counteract the tendency of the arm to move inward (skate) toward the center of the record, especially as the record approaches the center of the record.

b.    The anti-skating should match the tracking force added. For our turntable, set it to 2.

6.  How do I stop a record?

a.    The record will automatically stop playing when the record is finished.

b.    You can also stop a record by lifting the tonearm and placing it on the tonearm rest.  

7.  How do I disconnect the Bluetooth pairing on the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

a.    Press and hold the Bluetooth button until the Blue Bluetooth indicator light turns off.

b.    The turntable will then disconnect from the external device.

8.  How do I control the volume on the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

a.    Increase volume: rotate the Volume Knob clockwise.

b.    Decrease volume: rotate Volume Knob counterclockwise.

9.  How do I use the headphone jack on the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

a.    CAUTION: Switch off the power to all equipment before making connections. Read the instructions of each component you intend to use with this unit. Be sure to insert each plug securely. To prevent hum and noise, avoid bundling the signal interconnection cables together with the AC power cord.

b.    Connect a set of headphones (not included) in the headphone jack.

c.    The LED will turn solid red when the headphones are plugged in.

                                          i.    Note: never put on the headphones until the headphone plug has been connected.

10.        How do I use the Line-Out connection on the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

a.    Switch the PRE-AMP OFF/ON SWITCH to ON position.

b.    Plug one end of the RCA cable (included) into the LINE OUT socket at the back of the unit. Be sure to match the color with the socket.

c.    3. Plug the other end of the cable into the LINE IN socket of your home amplifier

d.    device.

e.    4. Switch on the unit and the amplifier device you connected.

f.      5. Adjust the volume on the amplifier device.

11.        What is the USB-C Out port on the Stir It Up Lux turntable used for?

a.    You can use the USB-C out port to charge any of your devices from here. We recommend charging a House of Marley Speaker from this to save on plug adaptors.

12.        How do I connect the Get Together Duo to the Stir It Up Lux Turntable?

a.    Ensure the speakers are plugged in and the right speaker is fully charged. The right speaker will be labeled with an “R”, and it is a battery powered speaker.

                                          i.    The red LED will be on while charging and will go off when fully charged

                                        ii.    If the right speaker is not charged, plug in the USB-C cable, and connect the speaker to a power source.

b.    To pair your speakers with the turntable, follow the steps below:

                                          i.    Plug the power adaptor into the left (mains-powered) speaker and switch it on by pressing and holding the power button for 2 seconds

                                        ii.    Switch on the right (battery-powered) speaker

1.      In a few seconds, the two speakers should pair together automatically

                                      iii.    When paired, the speakers will announce “left channel” and “right channel”

1.      If the speakers don’t pair in 10 seconds, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the left (mains-powered) speaker for 5 seconds until you hear a beep

                                      iv.    The second LED light will flash red and blue while the speakers pair together

                                        v.    The speakers will then announce, “left channel” and “right channel”

1.      They are now ready to pair with your Stir It Up Wireless turntable

                                      vi.    If connecting the turntable through Bluetooth, follow the steps for “How do I pair the Stir It Up Lux turntable with a Bluetooth device?” above.

                                    vii.    If connecting the turntable via a wired connection, follow the steps for “How do I use the Line-Out connection on the Stir It Up Lux turntable?” above.  

13.        What devices can I use to play audio from my Stir It Up Lux turntable?

a.    Any Bluetooth audio device, speakers connected to an amplifier or powered speakers can be used to play audio from the Stir It Up Lux.

14.        What is the correct tracking force for the stylus?

a.    The recommended tracking force for the standard fitted AT-95E stylus is 2g.

15.        What is the correct setting for anti-skate?

a.    The anti-skate should match the tracking force added, so it should be set to 2.

16.        How do I activate Bluetooth pairing mode?

a.    Press the Bluetooth button once to turn it on

b.    Press the Bluetooth button again to activate pairing mode. When the pairing light is blinking blue, then it is ready to pair.

17.        How do I know if the turntable is paired with a Bluetooth device?

a.    When the pairing light goes solid, the turntable is paired with a Bluetooth device

18.        Does the turntable come with a cover?

a.    The turntable does not come with a cover that will go over the device.

19.        Why didn’t my turntable come with a belt?

a.    The drive belt comes pre-installed. However, if there is no visible belt around the sub-platter and motor when you open the turntable, please refit the belt.

20.      What is the output level with the preamp off?

a.    5mV nominal @1kHz, -10dB

21.        What is the output level with the preamp on?

a.    250mV nominal @1kHz, -10dB

22.      What is the Bluetooth version of the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

a.    Bluetooth version 5.3

23.      What is the size of the Stir It Up Lux turntable?

26.        How do I recycle my product?

a.    House of Marley believes in respect for the earth, which is why we develop products with upcycled materials. Please contact your local e-waste recycling center for drop-off instructions. Unfortunately, due to the complex assembly of the turntable, they cannot be placed in a standard recycle receptacle
