Since 2010, eco-conscious audio maker House of Marley has combined high-quality materials and innovative design to create state-of-the-art audio products; better for the Earth and for music. Created in collaboration with the Marley family to carry on Bob Marley’s legacy of love for music and the planet, all House of Marley products are consciously crafted from mindfully sourced materials, shining the light on the need for sustainability within a plastic-driven market.

From stylish home speakers to eco-conscious true wireless earbuds, House of Marley is dedicated to providing a greener alternative to all-plastic audio products by incorporating socially responsible materials; including FSC® certified wood, signature REWIND™ upcycled fabrics, REGRIND™ recycled silicone, recycled plastic bottles, bamboo, and recyclable aluminium.

With these materials, along with 100% recyclable packaging, the brand is making conscious efforts to ensure the materials they use conserve natural resources, contribute to cleaner manufacturing and produce less waste within the consumer electronics market.

In an effort to spread awareness of global forest restoration needs and corporate social responsibility, House of Marley set up Project Marley – a charitable initiative contributing to the planting of trees through non-profit organisation, One Tree Planted.

Through the Project Marley initiative, over 223,000 trees have been planted to date in Indonesia, the Amazon rainforest, British Columbia, Florida and California. For Bob Marley’s son, Ziggy, the protection of natural resources and the spreading of love instilled in him from his father continues; “House of Marley for me represents shelter from the storms. House of Marley is a place you can go to find refuge,” he says.

In 2020, to honour Bob Marley’s 75th birthday and his commitment to the environment, House of Marley is continuing to support environmental efforts through the Project Marley platform – committing to the planting of more trees worldwide and partnering with non-profit organisation, Surfrider Foundation.

Despite current worldwide uncertainty, the Marley family is dedicated to keeping Bob’s memory alive through a number of celebrations throughout the year. Ziggy explains: “One of the main things this year has been our ‘legacy” web documentary series. Each month we release a new episode highlighting a different aspect of Bob - not only as a performer but as a human being.” He continued, “We have also been releasing a handful of music videos, digital music releases, special edition vinyl and there will be a book coming out later this year. We also just re-released the official MARLEY documentary through digital screenings and select theatres.” Check this out on Bob Marley’s socials and at bobmarley.com.

Despite being released back in 1984, Bob Marley’s Legend album has retained the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Reggae Album chart this year, and it is inspiring to see that younger generations are drawn to his music, whilst it continues to find new audiences. Ziggy explains “I think Bob’s music speaks to everyone. Every generation goes through a rebellious or conscious stage and when they hear Bob’s music, his lyrics, it just resonates.”

51 year old Ziggy has followed in his father’s footsteps and continues to make music himself, with his new album MORE FAMILY TIME due to be released on 18th September. “MORE FAMILY TIME is a follow up album to my first kids/family album, FAMILY TIME. The inspiration was my 4 year old son Isaiah; kids need good music now more than ever,” he says.

In a similar vein, Ziggy believes record players and vinyl continue to live on and inspire young music fans: “The first thing is the sound. Once you listen to vinyl, the quality and warmth you feel is a totally different experience. Then you have the appreciation of the artwork and wanting something physical in your hand. And third, there is something special about the limitations vinyl puts on music fans. In today’s world of singles, I think a growing number of people are beginning to rebel from that and connect with the experience of hearing an album from start to finish without pausing or skipping.

Everything in our lives is so 'on demand'—sometimes you just need to sit back and listen.” Bob Marley’s vision for Tuff Gong was to help shine a light globally on the best of the Jamaican music scene, using his voice to give others an opportunity to be heard.

Ziggy continues to uphold this ethos, recommending a number of other young reggae artists to check out. He says “There is definitely good music coming out of Jamaica. I would tell people to check out Chronixx, Koffee, Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, Jaz Elise and Jah9.”
